About this Section

The Renderhive project will develop open-source software to establish a distributed peer-to-peer network – the render hive or hive for the remainder of this document – between its users. The render hive enables its participants to buy and sell render power between each other in a trusted, self-regulated way without a centralized middle-man the user would need to trust. Instead, trust is established by relying on distributed ledger technologies (aka blockchains). Thus, the render hive can be considered to be a decentralized render farm which lives in the crowd in contrast to conventional cloud-based render farms. This section goes into detail about the render hive itself.
